1872-1876, rare pair of fun French faience cachepots/planters with provenance: the manoir "La Dijonnerie" near Bourges. These are a creation by a significant Nevers factory that worked only 4 years. Its works of art were particularly distinguished by comical grotesque interpretations. This pair of plant holders is extensively decorated à petit feu (double firing), on a white background, with polychrome detailed surrealist caricature figures among flowering branches, in vivid colors, yellow, green, blue, red... The sides are embellished with yellow and black satyr heads. Signed. On display at our NYDC Showroom.
